My very first semester experience
I was really happy when I had admission to the University of Cape Coast. It was great having a school so close to the sea shore. I had spent almost all my childhood staying in Kumasi and its villages which are all far from the sea so when I finally had a first sight of Cape Caost, a city just by the sea shore, I decided to chose its university. The first semester started quiet well and I had a lot of time at the shore but when studies became intense I hadly remembered its existence. The mode of teaching and learning was so different from what I knew in the high school. I had a tough time but quikly got settled for serious work. There were ocassional failures in quizes and successes as well. In all these I had time to make friends from other regions. I was the course representative for my Physics class and I really enjoyed working with my lecturer and colleagues. School has closed to reopen on 12 January. I am currently spending the holiday in Kumasi with my family.

I am Elizabeth Atulley from Ghana. I study Laboratory Technology in the University of Cape Coast in Ghana. My sponsor is the SmartKids Foundation, a Holland based NGO that sponsor's bright but needy kids in Ghana.I had the first sponsorship in 2004 for my high school education. Now I'm in the University and still benefitting from their sponsorship. I have a goal of becoming a medical doctor in future. This summer, something great happend and am happy to say that I have made a move towards my goal. I started a premedical school course online. Through the international co-ordinator of the SmartKids Foundation, I received a free invitation from the president of Students of Medicine, to take part in his premed school course. I hope this will help me to realize my dream one day.
